Welcome
Mission Statement
The City of Dunn Inspections Department will work to ensure sound construction of new buildings, promote steady maintenance of existing buildings and enforce regulations and development practices in accordance with the NC State and Local Codes, regulations, laws, and ordinances.
This will be accomplished by expediting the permit process without compromising the public health, safety, and general welfare to life and property from fire and other hazards attributed to the built environment.
Responsibilities of the Inspections Department
The Inspections Department staff works with developers, engineers, architects, builders, property owners, contractors, renters, community leaders, City staff, and the general public in a variety of ways related to new and old construction, fire prevention inspections and permitting, as well as citing and abating properties in violation with the City of Dunn Code of Ordinances.
Inspections Department staff processes the following permit applications:

The Inspections Department Staff also enforces City Code Ordinances with sending violation notices to tenants and owners of the property and the abatement of the violation if necessary. The enforcement of these ordinances pertain to privately owned lots containing weedy lots, junk and debris, overgrowth, dead/unsafe trees and junk or nuisance vehicles.
We are also in charge of enforcing the Non-Residential Maintenance Code and the Minimum Housing Code. Inspections are performed on substandard buildings and houses in an effort to bring them up to the Minimum Standards the City of Dunn has established. We work with tenants, owners, and contractors on the processes pertaining to these inspections.
If you have questions about your property, possible new improvements, or about a concern to a substandard dwelling or building, please call the Inspections Department at 910-230-3505 to fill out a Petition for us to start the process. We’ll do our best to assist you.
